This is a street in the East Village that has embodied the off beat spirit of the area. Get off the subway in Astor Place and walk down to Third Avenue. Here you wil hit street vendors, restaurants, and trendy stores. If you are interested in the hipster scene, this place is for you. Many of the restaurants have Japanese fare and the stores range from rare music to vintage clothing. The store Search and Destroy has a selection of old, second hand t-shirts if this is your style. There is even a store called The Sock Man which sells all kinds of socks. This is also the location of the St. Mark's Hotel where you can stay or just stop by for a drink. This place is not as counter culture as it used to be but it is still a cool place to visit.
