St Augustine is totally beautiful living History. There is very little of this beautiful place in St John's county that does not contain some visually excellent sights, and some places with wonderful arts and historically great crafts.
THE TOURS: this city has a variety of trams and trolleys that can take you from your hotel, right to the points of interest. Since much of the events are seasonal, it should be advised that checking the calendar for specific events will help in planning, but at almost all times of the year, you can find something beautiful.
The central city has some superb places that really require you use public transport ( the trams and trolleys), however , the parking has been upgraded a lot, so if you need to drive near to where you want to go, then this is getting more feasible. So, for the disabled, some events can be very hard to get to without a little bit of pre-planning. For example, whilst the RIPLEYS BELIEVE IT OR NOT castle is absolutely magnificent, it is hard to get to, and to navigate around; the best way to travel in some of the hard to access places is by a power chair. RIPLEYS staff are very friendly, and will do a lot to help you see their sites, but a scooter is definitely not a good idea, but a power chair will help a lot.
The Ghost tours are brilliant. From the walk around tours, to the travel of the Matanza's ( the Bay is called the Matanza's) the Schooner with the well trained staff is a wonder filled tour in the darkness of the Bay, that highlights the beautiful night scape.
RESTAURANTS: Mexican, Huge Variety of Seafood places ( the SANTA MONICA is the best, and is, of course, in the most demand), and the regular chain restaurants are also available. Hungry Howie's has some great local items that are just near perfect.
If you yearn for a great steak, and not seafood ( as I do :-) then try the great Offerings that the SANTA MONICA has, however, MARTY'S has, without a doubt, the greatest service, and the most immaculate Steaks.
