Wind Cave is one of the largest and most intricate cave systems in the world, known for its calcite formations that make honeycomb patterns. The other impressive feature of the park is its large prairies that are home to herds of elk and bison. These large grazing animals can often be seen crossing the grasslands.
The weather here is temperate with warm summers and cold winters. The area gets a decent amount of precipitation, so be prepared for the possibility of rain or snow showers.
Wind Cave was first discovered by native Americans who described it as a hole the blew cool air. The cave is the fourth longest in the world and new chambers are constantly being discovered.
