Wat Pho

Many tourists may not know that the traditional art of Thai massage originated among the Buddhist monastic order. Wat Pho has been home to a Thai massage school since its construction in 1788. The school is open to the public, and it is one of the best places in the city to experience Thai massage. Wat Pho is also one of Bangkok's largest temples, with an impressive number of stupas and Buddha images. Among those images is the famous Reclining Buddha, a 46-meter-long gold-plated statue depicting the Buddha before his death. Just around the corner from the Grand Palace, Wat Pho provides visitors a peaceful interlude among the heat and bustle of Bangkok.
