Val Verzasca Switzerland

INTRODUCTION

Are you looking for an idyllic scenery in direct vicinity to a city center? Then Val Verzasca is the perfect destination. This region of Switzerland has a mediterranean climate, which means it is situated in the palm-strewn south of Switzerlandand, where even in the winters the temperature is quite mild. This allows you to sit on the terrace, drink a coffee, and enjoy the view on the snowy mountains. In the summer, Val Verzasca is a camping paradise and a popular destination for hikers.

The valley of Verzasca is undoubtedly a place that gives an impression of the past of the alpine region. The traces of the past that can be seen in the simplicity and harmony of the houses show how natural forces caused people to move into different areas in the alpine region, which now serve as idyllic getaways for travelers from all over Europe.

Val Verzasca is only a few minutes away from the city center and is close to the Verzasca River and the artificial Lake Vogorno, caused by the Verzasca Dam. The 220m high dam across the valley is massive and the bungee jumping which takes place from the top is a must for daredevils and spectators. The opening scene in the James Bond movie "Golden Eye" was filmed here.

ATTRACTIONS

Verzasca River: This favorite place in the Verzasca Valley offers a wonderful picnic spot, with its big rocks that let you snack surrounded by the emerald green water of the magical Verzasca River. In the summer, the river is also a popular spot for scuba diving. Daredevils will get their kicks out of jumping off the Verzasca bridge, a stone bridge that has withstood weather and the current of the river for centuries.

HIKING

The region has an extensive hiking trail network of about 300 km. The different hiking trails can take you along river shores and lakes all the way up to the top of the mountains, mountain passes, and alp huts with spectacular views.
