Tybee Island is a 3 mile stretch of sun, sand, surf, and fun just 18 miles east of Savannah, Georgia.
Tybee Island has plenty of hotels, condos, and cottages to choose from. Live bands entertain the sunworshippers who come to Tybee to relax and get away.
A beautiful beach, Tybee Island is less crowded and overrun with partiers than other more widely known beaches. There is plenty of fun, without the fender- to-fender line up of cars.
Watch the beach for turtle nests. If you venture out at night, you may even see some turtles coming to shore to lay eggs. (Please remember, poaching turtle eggs is illegal. ) You might even be surprised by other wildlife on the little island.
For those who want more than just a good tan for their vacation, Tybee Island has lots more to offer. The Tybee Island Lighthouse, built in 1773, is now a museum. History buffs will also enjoy visiting Fort Screven on the island, and Fort Pulaski just west of the island.
This may be a little stretch of sun and sand you've never heard of, but that might be just the reason to visit. Besides, you come by way of Savannah, one of the most beautiful and intriguing towns in Georgia.
