Tsukiji Fish Market

Tokyo's Tsukiji Fish Market is the largest fish market in the world, handling over 2000 tons of fresh seafood a day. It may not be for the squeamish, but many say the sights and tasty morsels of the market make it a must for tourists.

Visitors can wander the wholesale stalls and see over 450 different kinds of fish, or check out one of the surrounding restaurants to sample fresh seafood caught just hours before.

Early risers can see the spectacle of the popular tuna auctions that start around 5:30 a.m.
