INTRODUCTION
With beautiful colonial-style constructions such as the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion, the Parish of San Jose, the Archaeological Museum, and more, Tlaxcala is located about 70 miles east of Mexico City and lies at the foot of "La Malinche" or "Malintzin," which is a 4,400-meter inactive volcano.

ATTRACTIONS
In this city, built on top of ruins of ancient indigenous towns, you'll see some notable religious and civic buildings, including the Palacio Municipal (Municipal Palace). Inside the Palacio Municipal, you'll find wonderful paintings that narrate Tlaxcala's history from the pre-Hispanic era to present day, as well as the work of Desiderio Hernandez Xochitiotzin.
In the town of Ocotlan, visit the Basilica of Ocotlan, which has an eclectic white façade, ornamented with beautiful local baroque designs.
Botanical Gardens
This beautiful garden covers 8 hectares (20 acres) and is divided into various sections: a grove, aquatic plants, cacti and succulent plants, a greenhouse and a nursery. It also has rooms for special events, a library, and nature trails.
Alitplano Zoo
At this zoo you'll find more than 60 animal species, including birds, reptiles, and mammals. There are also educational areas, where you can participate in interactive activities.
Centro Vacacional La Trinidad
This is a pleasant recreational area with neo-gothic architecture that is certain to grab your attention. It has swimming pools, manmade lakes, tennis courts, barbeque grills, bicycle and ATV rentals.
Museo Regional de Tlaxcala
In this museum's nine showrooms, you can learn about the region's historical development from the pre-Hispanic era to the post-revolutionary period. You'll also see a collection of pre-Hispanic objects found at archaeological sites in the city's outskirts.
