Teddy Roosevelt was one of the most conversational minded presidents in history. During his presidency he created five new national parks, as well as hundreds of thousands of acres of other types of protected lands. He loved the landscape of North Dakota and so, in his honor the park was named after him.
The best time to visit the park is in the summer, when the temperature averages in the 80s and precipitation is light. The winters are cold but do not see much snow.
A great place to visit in the park is Maltese Cross Cabin, Roosevelt's first home in North Dakota. Tours of the cabin are given throughout the summer.
