The San Diego ZooThe San Diego Zoo is located in Balboa Park?, and is one of the largest zoos in the world. It has over 4,000 animals and more than 800 species. The San Diego zoo offers varied options for sightseeing, such as double decker busses, which provide guided tours or safari trucks, which take you into the field exhibits for an up-close look at the animals. Overnight sleepover programs allow visitors to spend the night near the East Africa Field exhibit at the zoo campsite. During the summer, there are also opportunities to see the zoo after twilight during the "Nighttime Zoo" program, which starts June 24 or the "Park at Dark" program, which runs through September 4.
