The Old Cavendish LaboratoryWatson and Crick’s discovery of the structure of DNA, the discovery of the neutron and the electron and many other discoveries have occurred in the Cambridge Department of Physics. The department moved to larger facilities in 1974, but the Old Cavendish Laboratory still stands as a monument to Cambridge University’s contributions to science.
