California’s oldest continuously operating theater, the Lobero was constructed in 1873. Its Mediterranean architectural style helped inspire those who rebuilt Santa Barbara after the 1925 earthquake. Many greats have stood on its stage over the years, including Bela Lugosi, Clark Gable, Igor Stravinsky, Ingrid Bergman, John Cleese and Carol Burnett. Today, it still hosts spectacular traveling performances as well as local ones - from the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony to the State Street Ballet.
