We can thank the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife Kenya (AFEW Kenya) for protecting the Rothschild Giraffes – there were only 130 of them at one time – and giving visitors to the Giraffe Center the chance to see things from a different perspective. A giraffe’s perspective, that is, which you can experience as you give one of the 14 giraffes a treat from the feeding platform. You can also acquaint yourself with local flora and fauna on the nature trail or enjoy an orchestra of bird calls in the bird sanctuary. Feel good about indulging in souvenirs from the gift shop: AFEW sponsors school trips to the Giraffe Centre to educate Kenyan children about preserving the environment and their rich wildlife.
