The Covent Garden

A colorful mix of the Victorian, the bohemian and the modern, Covent Garden is full of markets and narrow streets packed with people and energy. At its center, a square with a glass-roofed market looks like something out of a painting. Though extremely crowded on weekends, this is a great place to find inexpensive food and unique souvenirs. Find charming Victorian-style toys at Benjamin Pollock’s Toyshop, eat a pasty, browse through dozens of lovely, easily-packable and reasonably-priced scarves or enjoy any number of street performances (mind your wallet, though). The London Transport Museum, also in this square, will entertain children and their parents with the history of public transportation in London. Many attractions surround the square as well, from popular clothing chains to Neal’s Yard, a boldly-painted alley with bold food and a bold attitude. Other popular stops in Covent Garden include the Royal Opera House, the Lamb and Flag, St. Martin’s theatre, St. Paul’s Church, and the Theatre Royal.
