The Augustiner Brewery Salzburg

The Augustiner Brewery in Salzburg is the place to go for a traditional beer hall experience. Founded by the Augustinian monks in 1621, the brewery prides itself on maintaining the “old craft brewing tradition” such as serving beer straight out of wooden barrels.

The brewery has a large number of beer halls, and a beer garden (open in summer months), all of which are usually crowded with tourists and locals alike. The beer is self served, customers pick out a traditional stone beer stein, and wait in line for beer to be served.

Snacks are available at stands outside of the beer halls, however if wanting a meal, buffets for bigger parties can be reserved in advance. Buffet prices range between 5-20 dollars per person depending on the desired cuisine. An example buffet spread includes spare ribs, with cabbage salad and dumplings, for around $10 per person.

Weather interested in the history of Salzburg, or simply wanting a good beer, the Augustiner Brewery is the place to go.
