KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Climate: Like the rest of Southeast Queensland, the Sunshine Coast is extremely hot in the summer and mild in the winter. If traveling in the summer, make sure to wear a hat and layer on the sunscreen.
ATTRACTIONS
Check out the largest sand island in the world, Fraser Island. Take a guided tour of the island via a 4WD bus, or hire your own 4WD and drive yourself. For a different, but surely unique experience, take a unique guided Camel tour. See the crystal clear lakes, hike through the magnificent forest, run down a sand dune, and take a long walk on one of the many perfect beaches.
Visit the Sunshine Coast and go whale watching, while spotting dolphins along the way. Want a more hands-on activity? Try deep sea fishing, ocean canoeing tours, surfing, or a variety of other water based activities. Browse through the boutique shops or have coffee in one of the many beach front cafes.
Drive up to the hinterland and explore the quaint towns of Malaney, Montville, Mapleton or Kenilworth. Visit with the locals, pop in and browse the local artist studios, or have lunch in one of the locally owned restaraunts.
Love markets? The Eumundi Markets operate Wednesdays from 8am- 1:30pm, Thursdays from 5.00pm - 9pm, and Saturdays from 6:30am - 2pm. Buy or try anything from local food, clothing, art, furniture, fresh produce, crafts, and much more.
Take the kids to Underwater World or to visit the all the animals at Australia Zoo. The Australia Zoo is owned by the Irwin family. Visit the Crocoseum, the Tiger Temple, and the Wildlife hospital. Shows operate daily offering much to see and do.
Have lunch at the Ettamougah pub, built in scale and as a close replica of the pub in the Kenny Maynard cartoons. Make sure to stop in for a pint on the drive from Brisbane to the Coast.
No matter what you want in a holiday, the Sunshine Coast has it all, but be aware that you won't want to leave!
