Stonehenge

Located near the towns of Amesbury and Salisbury, Stonehenge is a large Neolithic and Bronze Age monument, consisting of a circular grouping of standing stones and is, undoubtedly, one of the most famous prehistoric sites in the world. It is considered to be one of the 7 Wonders of the Middle Ages. There were many phases to building Stonehenge, as it was built over a span of 2,000 years. Historians are not certain about it's use, though many believe that Stonehenge was a burial ground of sorts. There is also evidence that some rocks on site were used as a calender or clock. Nobody has discovered exactly how Stonehenge was constructed, and it remains the subject of great mystery and curiosity.
