Carlsbad Caverns National Park: The Carlsbad Caverns National Park includes 116 caves, some of them being the largest in North America, which were formed when sulfuric acid dissolved the limestone. The most popular activity here is, of course, cave tours. These are not to be missed, as the tours can be splendid and creep at the same time. Other outdoor activities include camping and hiking. Possibly the most amazing event that is organized here is the annual Bat Flight Breakfast where at least a thousand people come together at dawn to have breakfast and watch the bats fly back into the caves when the sun comes up. The cost of breakfast is cheap, and the viewing of the bats' routine is priceless.
Tularosa Vineyards: Although many travelers would not think to visit a vineyard in New Mexico, this state is actually the oldest winegrowing region in the U.S. Currently, the region has over 50 acres of grapes. Much time and skill is put into perfecting the many varieties of wine at this vineyard to produce a high-quality spectacular beverage. Tularosa Vineyards is open daily for tastings and sales. There is even a wine club that provides discounts on certain items, and ships a selection of wines to your door, 4 times a year.
