Singapore Zoo

A trip to Singapore isn't complete without a visit to the Singapore Zoo. With its breath-taking tropical landscape and over 3,200 mammals, birds, reptiles and fish in its 'open' setting, it is, without a doubt, one of the best zoos in the world.

As soon as you come through the gates of the Singapore Zoo, you know this is unlike any zoo you've ever been to. Visitors walk through winding paths through tropical flowers and tall trees that form a thick canopy above. Keep an eye out for the orangutans swinging from branch to branch above.

The animals are kept in an 'open' environment, and live in large enclosures, separated from visitors only by moats. The moats are hidden by tropical vegetation or clever landscaping to give visitors an unobstructed view of the animals in their natural habitat.

No need to worry. In the case of dangerous animals, like the exotic white tigers and jaguars, glass-fronted enclosures are used.

Visit the animals of the Australian Outback, Elephants of Asia and the reptile garden.

Have lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants and watch the fire-eaters, tribal dancers and strolling musicians.
