Shenandoah National Park Virginia

Located only 75 miles from downtown Washington D.C., Shenandoah provides easy access to the natural beauty lacking in the areas metropolitan areas. With over 500 miles of trails, the park is a great get-away for a day hike or a more difficult over night trek.

The park experiences cold winters and hot summers with moderate amounts of precipitation year round. The temperature is around ten degrees cooler in the higher elevations so wear layers if you plan to be hiking any of the beautiful mountains.

The park includes 101 miles of the challenging Appalachian trail. The trail is enjoyed by over 4 million hikers each year and is accessible by a large portion of the population. The trail is a historic landmark and is a special part of Shenandoah park.
