The first SeaWorld park to open, SeaWorld San Diego is a marine mammal park that features orca whales, dolphins, endangered manatees, sea lions, penguins, polar bears, and other marine animals. The Shark Encounter exhibit guides visitors through a glass tube with sharks swimming in the tank above them, while the Wild Arctic exhibit houses polar bears and other arctic animals, and includes a simulated helicopter ride to the Arctic. A water roller coaster-type ride, Journey to Atlantis, is themed around the fabled sunken city of Atlantis. SeaWorld shows include the Shamu show, dolphin show, and sea lion and otter show, and fireworks in the summer.
