San Juan is definitely an "up and coming" hot spot on the travelling circuit, and the hotel prices reflect that. During the off-season, finding a decent hotel for under $200 can be daunting. A great alternative to the outrageously priced Old Town? hotels and beach resorts, are the small, yet accommodating boutique hotels in the Condado District?.
The Coral Princess has only only eight rooms. The hotel is clean, modern, and very cute. All the rooms have marble floors, which is great for that tropical weather, and feature refrigerators and large bathrooms. It is also located just one block away from local beaches. Most weekdays run about $110 to $120 per night, for a standard room.
Just up the road from the hotel is the bus, which takes you straight into Old Town? for only 75 cents. If you would prefer a cab, it will run you about $10. Old Town? is a must see when in San Juan and is within walking distance to the El Morro Fort? and Citty Walls?.
There are also some fabulous Puerto Rican eateries, and for those with less adventurous appetites, back home fare such as the Hard Rock Cafe and Chili's Bar and Grill. Good luck travelling and enjoy!
