INTRODUCTION
The Archipielago of San Andres, Providencia and Santa Catalina are located in the Caribbean Sea. San Andres is the largest island of the three. The official language is English Creole, a mixture between English vocabulary and Spanish and African languages. Tourism in San Andres has really grown over the past three years, with the number of tourists varying from 341.293 to 377.619 a year. Providencia is reputed to have one of the most beautiful beaches in South America.
HISTORY
The Archipielago was originally Spain's property. However by 1613 English settlers were actually the first Europeans to arrive and stay in the islands.
ATTRACTIONS
In San Andres, in the center of an island called Big Pond, there's a tiny lagoon. Cayo Johnny, Cayos de Alburquerque, and Cayos del Este Sudeste are also beautiful places to visit. Providencia is the second largest of these islands.
