Royal British Columbia Museum

At the Royal British Columbia Museum, "the past meets the present." It ranks amongst the top museums in the world. For a nostalgic trip, wander through the third floor Century Hall, feel the cold dampness of a hard rock mine, pan for gold, visit Chinatown, wait for the train, and marvel at the incredible First Nations display, where you may enter a longhouse, or admire the argylite carvings.

The second floor is astounding. The dioramas of ocean front and forest are so real that you can imagine the movement of the creatures contained inside. The wooly mammoth is featured in the climate change gallery, where you may touch a wall of real ice.

A heritage house and school, next to the museum, will take you back in time as you wander through them, or you can admire the totem poles and the longhouse on the adjacent grounds.
