INTRODUCTION
Rottnest Island is located about 45 minutes by ferry off the coast of Fremantle in Western Australia, and a short distance from Perth as well.
It is a beautiful place to visit if you love the ocean and enjoy the beaches. There are 63 secluded beaches on the island, small little spots to enjoy what nature has to offer, including a large population of now-rare Quokkas. No cars are allowed on the island, except police and service vehicles creating a calm, refreshing, and relaxed atmosphere away from the bustle of the city. Bicycle is the preferred for of transportation.
ATTRACTIONS
There is a bus that runs every hour around the island and drops you off at different beaches.
I recommend Rottnest Island (or Rotto as the locals call it)to anyone who loves nature and a good time. Just don't forget the camera and sunscreen--snorkeling is a great thing to do there, but you can get sunburned very quickly (I did--every time I went an hour seemed like a minute in the water). Just do a search on Rottnest Island in Google and you can find all the information you need on it. Definitely worth the trip!
Rent a bike and take a tour of the island. You can also go for a kayak, take a scenic flight, go fishing, or catch a few waves.
RESTARAUNTS
At the main settlement, when you come off the ferry, there is a pub, cafe, and a few shops. There are several choices for accommodation on the island, ranging from camping, renting out a unit, or lovely hotels.
