Peoria Heights, Illinois Travel Guide

Peoria Heights is a suburb of Peoria. It is located on the Eastern side of the city and is halfway between Chicago and St. Louis, Missouri.

Peoria Heights has a city-like feel, but with a casual, Midwestern touch. The Illinois River provides lovely views of the area and can best be seen in the Observation Tower in the center of Tower Park. The Forest Park Nature Center also offers breathtaking trails for hikers.

If one cares to hop in their car for a leisurely drive, try Grand View Drive, which Teddy Roosevelt called "the world's most beautiful drive." Located along the top of a bluff overlooking the Illinois River, the road is lined with elegant Victorian-style homes, parks, and a country club.

If a view of Peoria, the river, and most of the surrounding county is what you seek, try a ride in the elevator of the red water tower located in the center of Tower Park.

The surrounding area also provides a substantial amount of sites for shopping and up-scale dining.
