Home of the Alaska State Fair, Palmer is located about an hour northeast of Anchorage. Part of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, Palmer is one of the oldest towns in the area.
What makes this town a bit different from the rest is the great sights and local attractions. Palmer is surrounded by snowcapped mountains, streams, river valleys, glaciers, and an abundance of wildlife and domestic lifestock.
One of the biggest—if not the biggest—glacier in the Valley is The Knik Glacier. This glacier is so large, that on a clear day, you can see it's breathtaking beauty.
Palmer has a wide variety of activites. Between the scores of fishing, white-water rafting, camping and taking a dip in one of the variety of surrounding lakes, Palmer is a must-see in Alaska.
