North Carolina

North Carolina is located in the Southern region of the United States. This is where the Wright brothers powered the first successful flight at Kill Devil Hills near Kitty Hawk in 1903. It is also home to the first English colony.

This state has three metropolitan combined statistical areas with populations of more than one million. These areas consist of the Metrolina, the Piedmont Triad and the Triangle. Major airports include the Charlotte Douglas International Airport and the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Raleigh is the state capital.
