Washington’s newest museum, the Newseum, opened in April of 2008 and is home to 14 theaters and 15 galleries. The front pages of different newspapers from each state line the street, and breaking news greets you on a large TV screen as soon as you enter the building. The News Corporation News History Gallery contains front pages from newspapers from decades ago and displays important historical pieces, like the door from the Watergate Hotel that was broken down. The September 11th, 2001 and Berlin Wall exhibits are worth the trip to the Newseum; the museum houses the largest section of the Berlin Wall outside of Germany and the newspapers displayed from September 11th are shocking. Unlike the other museums in Washington, expect to pay upon entering the Newseum. Fees vary for students, seniors, and the general public.
