Newport Rhode IslandNewport is a city in Rhode Island, located about 30 miles south of Providence. John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier were married in St. Mary's Church in Newport on September 12, 1953. If you have a chance to visit Rhode Island, be sure to visit the Newport mansions, the most famous of which is The Breakers. This summer cottage was built around the turn of the century by the Vanderbilt Family, and tours are given to see this home and others--a must if you're visiting the area.
