Museum of the History of Tel Aviv Opens on December 17, 2009
The Revealing of the Hidden City project was implemented to preserve historic images from Tel Aviv
Tel Aviv was originally founded on April 11, 1909 and there has been a Revealing of the Hidden City project that has been designed to commemorate its 100 year anniversary. The project involved contributions from 300 volunteer employees from 10 separate community centers. The volunteers placed a tremendous amount of time and energy into browsing through thousands of images from rare photo albums and family collections to categorize the most meaningful pictures that depict the historic aspects of Tel Aviv.
The photographs that were discovered during the Revealing of the Hidden City project will be displayed in the Museum of the History of Tel Aviv, which is slated to open on December 17, 2009. The Museum of the History of Tel Aviv was constructed on Bialik Street in a majestic municipal building and its opening will be a festive celebration to mark the 100 year anniversary of Tel Aviv.
The museum will display the pictures that were collected in the Revealing of the Hidden City project as well as other historic artifacts and documents.
