Degas' Work in the Musee d'Orsay
With works by Monet, Cezanne, Degas, Manet, Gaugin, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Van Gogh, the Musée d’Orsay has the largest collection of 1848-1914 art. The museum is housed across the Seine from the Louvre in the Gare d’Orsay, a train station applauded as a “masterpiece” at the 1900 Paris World Exposition. When the station fell out of use, the French president had it turned into a museum for 19th and 20th century art.
