Murano glass is the most famous in the world and the small island in the Venice Lagoon has held a monopoly on quality glassmaking for centuries. You should definitely try to visit a factory to watch an expert blow glass and if you can't do that, visit the Museo Vetrario, which houses examples of Murano glass from throughout history.
