Mozambique Island is an island steeped in history and natural beauty that is yet to be affected by tourism and outside influences.
Also known as Ilha do Mocambique - it a tiny island just off the coast of Mozambique with a diverse and thriving population of about 60,000 people and a history dating back more than 500 years, is a must see destination.
Following the end of the civil war in 1984, the island was declared a world heritage site. It is connected to the mainland by a bridge just wide enough for normal cars but to buses or largest vehicles can cross.
Attractions include;
- St. Sebastiao, a solid 12-metre-high colossus on the northern tip of the island that was built nearly 400 years ago.
