The picturesque main street in Milford, Pennsylvania flaunts a variety of Victorian architecture and provides shopping opportunities ranging from antiques to eclectic fare. Pike County Historical Society Museum is also worth a visit. The museum contains an important American artifact -- the “Lincoln Flag.” Supposedly, this was the flag draped on President Abraham Lincoln's booth at Ford's Theatre on the night of his death. The flag still bears Lincoln's blood.

Following a quiet stroll through the museum halls, the active and adventurous can hike to the nearby waterfalls in Dingmans Ferry or raft and kayak on the Delaware River from Kittatinny Canoes. If interested in getting a little more off the beaten path, taking a drive to The Malibu Dude ranch should provide ample opportunity. Malibu offers reasonably priced horseback riding on acres of great trails. The setting is rustic and depending on the rider’s skill level, the wranglers will walk, trot or lope during the ride. Wildlife on the trails ranges from red efts to deer and bears, but to truly enjoy the ride, bring lots of bug spray.

After rafting down the rapids or galloping through the woods, enjoy the quiet elegance of the Hotel Fauchère. Recently renovated, the hotel provides numerous luxuries such as complementary wine, chocolates, and heated towel racks and floor tiles in the bathroom. Rooms tend to be small, since the original hotel was established in the mid 1800s, but elegant and comfortable. For more budget conscious travelers, options around town include numerous motels and B&Bs.

Lunch and dinner options range from the relatively inexpensive Apple Valley Restaurant, to the moderate Dimmick Inn Steakhouse to the luxurious and opulent Bar Louis and the Delmonico Room at the Hotel Fauchère. If you are looking for good food, a little history and culture, a relaxing weekend or perhaps an adrenaline high, you will find it in Milford, Pennsylvania.
