Mediterranean Sea

The Mediterranean Sea is part of the Atlantic Ocean, which is almost completely enclosed by land. A superhighway of transport in ancient times, the Mediterranean Sea allowed trading and cultural exchange between emergent people of the region. Its large islands include Cyprus, Crete, Euboea, Rhodes, Lesbos, Chios, Kefalonia, and Corfu in the eastern Mediterranean.
