The Masai Mara is a large safari park is south western Kenya named for the Maasai people (the traditional inhabitants of the area) and the Mara River, which divides it.
It is famous for its exceptional population of game and the annual migration of zebra and the wildebeest from the Serengeti(in Tanzania) every year from July to October, a migration so immense it is called the Great Migration.

All members of the "Big Five" (Lion, African Elephant, Cape Buffallo, Black Rhinocerous and Leopard) are to be found in the Masai Mara, although the population of black rhinoceros is severely threatened in recent years.
The park is easily accessible from Nairobi and it is reccommended to take a minimum 3 day safari trip with a trusted organization such as
