Manchester is a center of the arts, higher education, media and commerce. It is often called "The Capital of the North."
HISTORY
Manchester dates back to the Bronze Age. It played a large role in the Industrial Revolution. The city was attacked many times during World War II, and much of the city center was destroyed. The city center has since been renovated.

Manchester has a thriving nightlife, many music and theater venues, and is home to two universities.
