INTRODUCTION
Located on the east coast of Queensland, Mackay is a city known for for its sugar production. The city is nicknamed the sugar capital of Australia because it produces one third of the regions sugar. It is also a great place to enjoy one of its 31 nearby beaches.

Mackay Festival of the Arts?
Artspace Mackay, which opened in 2003 is one of Queensland’s finest museums. Even the building itself is a piece of art. Admission is free. After you have taken a loo through, head over to an art workshop and learn a few tricks yourself.
Eungella National Park is home to the very cute Australian platypus. This is a great place to explore nature, go for a bushwalk, have a picnic, and relax among the trees.
