Lusaka is the capital and largest city in Zambia. It is large, sprawling, and chaotic and can be very daunting to first time visitors.
There are plenty of shops and markets to buy traditional carvings and souvenirs. To make the most you your time though a trip outside the city to the surrounding nature reserves is a must.
Just south of the city is the Munda Wanga Environmental Park, which features botanic gardens, a wildlife park and sanctuary, as well as numerous picnic areas, swimming pools, and a relaxing terrace bar.
The Chaminuka game reserve is also worth visiting and has a beautiful luxury lodge if you wish to stay for a few days. Lots of big game animals can be seen here as well as plenty of bird watching. They can also arrange horse riding through the park and visits to local villages.
