Some experts have dubbed Luangwa National park in Zambia as one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world. Be this true or not, the park is a superb place to get back to the wild.
The now famous 'walking safari' originated here and it remains one of the best reserves to see on foot with the concentration of game around the Luangwa river among the most intense in Africa. There are 60 different animal species and over 400 different bird species.
Whether you visit the park on an organized safari or in your own vehicle you are bond to see abundant wildlife. Look for all the hippos down by the river as there is estimated to be at least 50 hippos per kilometre of the Luangwa River!
