Llangollen

ATTRACTIONS:

If you are fortunate enough to be visiting Llangollen, Wales in July be sure to celebrate with the locals at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. It is here that visitors come to compete in musical, poetic, and dance competitions.

For a trip back in time and lush scenery you may want to hop aboard the steam engine that runs eight miles through the Welsh countryside, rich with a rainbow of foliage.

To really know Wales is to know its intricate history. Valle Crucis Abbey, a partially preserved abbey in the hillsides of Llangollen, exudes a deep heritage and a traditional style of architecture foreign to those stuck in a modern world. The ornate window frames, door frames, and arches transport visitors back to the 13th century when the abbey was founded for, and inhabited, by monks. Time spent at Valle Crucis Abbey is highly suggested, if not for its history, then at least for its intense beauty.
