Liwonde National Park is Malawi's best for Wildlife. It is located on the Shire River - a tribuitatary of the Zambezi - and as a result is rather long a thin.
You can drive your own vehicle through the park in dry season or you can stay at the luxury 'Muvu' camp and let them organize game drives, boat trips and meals for you.
There is an abundance of hippos and crocodiles by the river but some days you may not see any other wildlife in the area. Although one of the best places to see wildlife in Malawi, the park does not compare to parks in Kenya or Tanzania which are bursting with animals everywhere you look.
