INTRODUCTION
Little Rock is the capital of Arkansas and is located on the south bank of the Arkansas River.
HISTORY
Little Rock was supposedly named by Jean-Baptiste Benard de la Harpe when he landed near a small rock formation on the banks of the Arkansas River. In 1821, Little Rock officially became the capital of the Arkansas territory, until Arkansas became a state in 1836.
In 1957, Little Rock was the talk of the nation when the Little Rock Nine enrolled at Central High School and the current governor, Orval Faubus, forbade their entry.
