Kitt Peak National Observatory

This astronomical observatory is located on the peak of the Quinlan Mountains in the Arizona-Sonoran Desert on the Tohono O'Odham Indian Reservation, which is just southwest of Tucson.

This observatory is famous for hosting the first telescope, a 91 cm reflector, which was used to search for asteroids near the Earth and calculating the probability of impact with our planet.

This facility also displays the McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope, which is the largest solar telescope in the world, with the largest unobstructed reflector.
