Kilkenny Castle, Ireland

Kilkenny Castle is one of Ireland's most magnificent fortresses and one of the most instantly recognizable buildings in Ireland.

Three of the castle's towers are from the original 1192 stone building and the antique collection that is held within, while not all original, is still impressive.

The castle looks over the River Nore and the beautiful city of Kilkenny and has many art pieces from the National Gallery on display in The Butler Gallery of Contempory Art. Tours of the Castle are available throughout the year.
