Juneau, Alaska Travel Guide

INTRODUCTION

Juneau is the state capital of Alaska. Juneau is a very popular destination for cruise ships. Other spots to visit include Mount Roberts and the Alaska State Museum.

HISTORY

Located on the Gastineau Channel, this place was a favorite of the Tlingit Indians for fishing. In 1880, gold was found in this area and it became a mining center. This capital was moved here in 1906.
