Juneau Alaska

INTRODUCTION

Juneau is the state capital of Alaska. Juneau is a very popular destination for cruise ships. If you have a chance to visit Juneau, be sure to take a whitewater rafting trip down the Mendenhall Glacier, just 12 miles from the city of Juneau. Other spots to visit include Mount Roberts and the Alaska State Museum.

HISTORY

Located on the Gastineau Channel, this place was a favorite of the Tlingit Indians for fishing. In 1880, gold was found in this area and it became a mining center. This capital was moved here in 1906.
