Julie Smith Park City Travel Story

My daughter and I visited Park City, Utah in the off-season month of August. Known mainly for it's ski resorts, this town, located about 45 minutes from Salt Lake International Airport, is full of sights, shops, and breathtakingly beautiful views.

While our stay was only 3 days long, I wish it could have been longer and I can't wait to go back.

Summer festivals, horseback riding, balloon rides, summer concerts - these are a few of the activities this resort town has to offer visitors who aren't there to ski. We also found that for the shopping addict, the offerings are so much more than the usual cheesy 'touristy' tee shirts, postcards, and snowglobes.

Be certain to stop by Mountain Body on Main Street-we spent most of our money there. Handmade natural soaps, candles, bath and body products - a great chair massage for $5! Just walking into the shop is a treat for the senses. I can't remember the names of the other shops we visited, but there were beautiful, tasteful, unique, and, best of all, affordable gifts and souvenirs aplenty.

Scattered throughout the streets in nooks, on curbs, and crannies, you will be surprised at the statues of horses in various garb ...we took plenty of pictures and had to laugh out loud when we chanced across the first one.

If you're in Utah, this is a wonderful place to visit.

If you can, I would highly recommend staying at The Canyons Resort - a small city in itself, you could possibly stay in the complex and never leave.
