Ivory Coast Travel Guide

INTRODUCTION

The Ivory Coast is set on the south coast of Africa. Côte d'Ivoire,as it is known in French, borders both Mali and Burkina Faso to the north, Ghana to the east, and Guinea and Liberia to the west.

The country has endured a lot of hardship in recent years including two coup d'etats. There has been an ongoing civil war in the country since 2002.

Despite this, the people of the Ivory Coast are said to be welcoming, friendly, and great natured.

The official capital of Côte d'Ivoire is Yamoussoukro , but Abidjan, with a population of 3,310,500, is the largest city and serves as the commercial and banking center and as the de facto capital. It is also the most populous city in French-speaking Western Africa.

Attractions include the superb Comoe National Park, Tai National Park, and the island town of Grand Bassan.
