Hvar Croatia

An island off the coast of Croatia, Hvar is known for its year round consistently spectacular weather. However, there is enough rain to grow large amounts of lavender, rosemary, sage, thyme and other herbs, making Hvar a city of the senses. The island sets the mood for a relaxed vacation. Traveling around Hvar is easily done by car, if that is your preferred mode of transportation. Some of the attractions to see include St. Stephen's Cathedral, St. Stephen's Square, The Church of St. John, the and the harbor.

Getting to the island of Hvar is simple. The airport of Split, Croatia (on the coast) is the closest to Hvar. From there travelers can take several different ferries, including car ferries, all of which average about 1 1/2 hours travel time.

Accommodations for every budget are available on the island. Hostels for those looking to save some money are not hard to come by. Two star hotels to four star hotels can be booked for your time on the Croatian island. A recommended four star hotel is called Hotel Park Hvar. Prices start at about $55 per person per day, which can be a little steep for some. However, it is hard to beat the variety of room types, the short distance to the coastline, and the exotic ambience.
